Randwick is dominated by the hospital and research precinct and the university next door. That produces a kind of collection you do not see elsewhere: laboratory instrument PCs, research workstations holding unpublished data, and ethics-bound participant records alongside ordinary office equipment.

What makes a Randwick collection different
Research data has its own rules. Ethics approvals specify how participant data must be destroyed and when. The certificate often has to be filed with the approving committee, so it needs to name the standard and the device.
Instrument PCs run obsolete operating systems. A machine driving a sequencer or analyser may be unpatched Windows 7 that cannot be touched while the instrument is in service — and is full of data when it finally comes out.
Grant-funded equipment is tracked. Assets bought on a grant must be accounted for at disposal. Serial-level certificates are what the finance team needs.
Precinct access is controlled. Hospital and campus loading areas require bookings and escorts. We arrange it before the day.
Secure data destruction
Drives are wiped to DoD 5220.22-M by default, with NIST 800-88 and the Australian ISM available. SSDs use firmware-level Secure Erase. Certificates record make, model, serial, standard and verification per device. Full detail on our e-waste removal and data destruction page.

The analyser PC can’t be taken off the network remotely. Is that a problem?
No. We remove and wipe the drive on site if the instrument has to stay where it is.
Can certificates be issued per grant or project code?
Yes. Give us the split when you book and we will group the certificates to match your finance records.
