The Shire runs on owner-operated business. Sutherland and the centres around it are full of clinics, trades, agencies and professional suites where the proprietor is also the IT department, and the office computer stays until it stops working.

Kinsoft collects and securely destroys end-of-life hardware across Sutherland, Miranda, Caringbah, Cronulla, Kirrawee and Engadine.

What makes a Sutherland collection different

Owner-operators keep equipment longest. A decade-old tower with the entire business history on one drive is normal here, and that drive has usually never been backed up anywhere else.

Nobody has an asset list. There is no IT department to ask, so part of the job is walking the premises and finding the machines in the back room, under the desk and in the garage.

Trades run field devices. Rugged tablets, job-management phones and van-mounted units hold customer addresses, quotes and payment details.

Clubs and community venues hold member data. Membership, loyalty and gaming systems carry personal and financial records under their own rules.

Secure data destruction

Drives are wiped to DoD 5220.22-M by default, with NIST 800-88 and the Australian ISM available. SSDs use firmware-level Secure Erase. Certificates record make, model, serial, standard and verification per device. Full detail on our e-waste removal and data destruction page.

The old PC has data we might still need. What should we do?

Tell us before the day. We can take a copy off to a drive you keep before anything is wiped — it is far easier than recovering it later.

I’m a sole trader with two machines. Is that too small?

No. Small jobs are grouped into an area run, so a couple of machines is a normal booking.

Do you take the van tablets as well?

Yes. Field devices hold customer data and are wiped, reset and certificated like anything else.
