E-waste in the Sydney CBD arrives in bulk and on a deadline. Floor strips, fitouts, lease expiries and office consolidations produce hundreds of devices at once, almost always with a date attached — the floor has to be handed back, and whatever is still in it becomes the tenant’s problem.
Kinsoft collects and securely destroys end-of-life hardware for businesses across the Sydney CBD, Barangaroo, Darling Harbour, The Rocks, Haymarket and Pyrmont.
What makes a CBD collection different
The building controls the timing, not you. Loading dock bookings, goods lifts and after-hours access windows are set by building management, often weeks ahead. The collection has to be planned around the dock slot, and a missed booking can mean waiting days.
Volumes are large and arrive at once. A floor strip is not ten laptops. It is workstations, monitors, server room equipment, network gear, phones and the contents of storage rooms nobody has opened in years.
Lease deadlines leave no slack. Make-good dates do not move, so the collection has to happen inside a fixed window, frequently outside trading hours.
Server rooms hold the real risk. The forgotten equipment in a comms room — old arrays, decommissioned servers, backup tapes — holds far more data than the laptops, and is the part most often left to the last day.
Secure data destruction
Every drive is wiped to a recognised standard — DoD 5220.22-M by default, with NIST 800-88, the Australian ISM and others available where a regulator or head office specifies one. SSDs and NVMe drives use firmware-level Secure Erase rather than overwrite tools built for spinning disks. Certificates of erasure record make, model, serial, standard and verification per device. Can you work around our building’s dock booking?
Yes, and we plan the collection around it. Tell us the dock window and access rules when you enquire — that constraint usually drives the whole schedule.
Can you collect after hours or at a weekend?
Yes. Make-good deadlines and trading hours often require it, and it is usually easier to get dock access outside business hours anyway.
We have a server room nobody has touched in years. Can you handle that?
Yes, and it is worth starting there rather than last. Comms room equipment typically holds far more data than the desktop fleet and takes longer to decommission properly.
